Breathe London Community Groups
Mums for Lungs Redbridge - Ray Lodge School
“We are so excited to be part of the Breathe London Programme. Having an air quality node at Ray Lodge School will be hugely beneficial for both the children and staff at the school as well as local residents, as it will enable us to understand more about the quality of the air in our local neighbourhood and take action to improve it with mitigation measures if needed.”
Lancaster West Residents Association
“We are very excited to be involved in the Breathe London Community programme. Our aim is to gain a better understanding of the air quality around Lancaster West, as part of the wider work we’re doing to become the UK’s largest eco-neighbourhood, and net-zero carbon by 2030. We’ll use this to talk to the community about air quality, building understanding of the things that impact it and the effects that poor air quality can have. Longer term, this will help us to identify and deliver nature-based solutions that will improve air quality, tackle inequality and promote good health.”
Save Our Safer Streets (SOSS)
We’re campaigning for safer streets for all in Tower Hamlets. We want to gather evidence on emissions and air quality to show that low traffic neighbourhoods are improving air quality and making our streets safer to walk, talk and play on.
NW7hub
Our community is especially concerned about the health impacts of the high levels of air pollution in close proximity to the NW7hub, the Library and the large Millway Medical Centre. Most concerning are its effects on schoolchildren, elderly residents, and on others at this site of a substantial pedestrian footfall. Reliable data on the air pollution levels at Mill Hill Circus will be vital for us to lobby for, and the Council to implement, mitigation measures to help minimise exposure to dangerously high levels of nitrogen dioxide and particulates.
Clean Air Beckton
The availability of hard data offers a powerful rationale for action. We also hope this work will forge a long-lasting local commitment and relationship between health, education and our environment.
Bromley Living Streets
We share Breathe London’s desire to democratise air quality monitoring and a Breathe London Node helps us do this by providing a tangible, ‘hard data’ point of entry for us to start a local conversation about cleaning up Bromley’s air.
Hounslow Borough Respiratory Support Group
As our name implies, we are keen to play our part in reducing harmful emissions to provide a better and safer environment for our members and the general public.
HyPER (Hyde Park Estate Residents)
HyPER works with all residents to create a sense of community in the Hyde Park Estate, based on the principles of respect, inclusivity and good citizenship. Membership is free and open to all residents of the Estate. We co-ordinate our activities with Westminster Council, the Paddington Neighbourhood Forum, Business Improvement Districts including local businesses and the Church Commissioners, in order to make our neighbourhood a cleaner, greener, healthier and safer place. We will work to reduce through-traffic, create more pedestrian spaces such as piazzas, and enrich the neighbourhood with family-friendly events.
Central Park, Newham
Newham's residents are increasingly concerned about poor air quality in the borough. We are a young, diverse and thriving borough, and we are coming together as a community to take action and improve the environment we live in.
Brunswick Tenants and Residents Association
“Really grateful we've been made this award. These Breathe London sensors base our response to Climate Change on real and continuing evidence.”
Clean Air for Southall and Hayes (CASH)
For many years, residents in Southall have experienced point source air pollution from the Green Quarter, formerly Southall Gasworks, two incinerators and two asphalt plants located in the borough of Hillingdon. The installation of a node will provide data that we can share with residents to educate them about the negative impacts of air pollution on health and to use as leverage to influence Ealing Council to improve air quality in Southall.
Haringey Fixers
“Really grateful we've been made this award. These Breathe London sensors base our response to Climate Change on real and continuing evidence.”
Poplar HARCA
We’re delighted to be a part of the Breathe London Node initiative with Imperial College London. A Breathe London Node in Poplar will play an important enabling role in delivering our Poplar Green Futures programme, which is developing practical, inclusive and equitable environmental projects at a neighbourhood scale. Its aim is to engage and empower local residents and stakeholders to take positive action on climate change. We welcome the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with Imperial College London and the Breathe London network to help us achieve these goals.
Christ’s College Finchley Breathe
Joining the Breathe London Community Programme will provide our students with an exceptional opportunity to understand the air pollution levels in our local area. The data will allow us to galvanise support within the school and local community for cleaner air and help us to implement a real world impact that our students can be proud of.
Harris Primary Academy East Dulwich
As a community-driven primary school based on a busy road in South East London, we are delighted to have been chosen to participate in this initiative. We hope that by learning more about the air we breathe each day, we will be able to ensure that we are doing everything we can to protect our health and that of the wider community around our school
Stockwell Main Road Communities
We all live on some of the busiest, most congested roads in London, and yet amazingly almost no direct data has historically been collected on AQ in Stockwell. We have been so overlooked in recent transport policies, and getting the node and collecting data from it is a big step towards changing this.
The Friends of St James Primary School
Participation in the Breathe London Community Programme is an exciting opportunity to empower our school community to monitor, evaluate, and act on improving local and city-wide air quality.
Ealing Transition
“We are concerned about the effect that congested and polluted roads have on our air quality, our health, and our planet. We hope to use the results of a Breathe sensor as a talking point in future events, and as a way to promote discussion in local schools and community organisations around the benefits of practical solutions like active travel, and how we can shift to more sustainable, less polluting modes of travel.”
